Latino 8 Celebrates 5th Anniversary

John Anderson, Editor

Located in Plaza Pescador in the hotel zone in San Jose del Cabo, Latino 8 in one of our favorite restaurants in Los Cabos. Run and owned by JP Iturbide and Pablo Portilla (also the owners of La Forchetta), the food and service are always excellent. October 5th was their 5th Anniversary. We met our friends Sue and John Labate there for dinner. As it was still a little hot and humid at night, we decided to sit inside.

As Sue and John had not been there before, they asked us what was good on the menu and we showed them a number of different items that were our favorites on the menu. They shared calamari as an appetizer and Sue tried the sweet corn soup. I ordered the tuna tiradito – a huge platter with tuna sashimi, avocado, onions and greens – fresh and delicious. Both Beth and I ordered the salmon for a main course with grilled vegetables and sweet potato purée. John chose the garlic amarillo fried rice with shrimp, octopus, mussels and squid. Sue selected two tacos in flour tortillas – Baja Shrimp and Carnitas. For dessert, the table shared a flan with a caramel sauce and strawberries.

Both JP and Pablo stopped by to check on our meals and say hello. As always, the food and service was excellent and we had a great time catching up with our friends.

Congratulations JP and Pablo on your great restaurants.
