Lunch at Latitude 22 The Roadhouse on the Corridor

John Anderson, Editor

I am sure that you have seen the stickers on cars saying, “No Bad Days.” This is the copyrighting saying of Mike, the late owner of Latitude 22 The Roadhouse just past Costco with a right turn from the frontage road. Walking into the restaurant, the first things you see are license plates from all around the United States and Canada and lots of large stuffed fish. The decoration is eclectic and the restaurant a classic roadhouse. There is a great menu with daily specials that match most of the diner-style restaurants in the United States. The service is friendly and they get to know what you want over time.

We took our friends, Mike and Michele to Latitude 22 for lunch. There is seating at the bar, at tables or booths inside or tables outside on the patio. We grabbed a high-top table and sat down. Our server brought us our menus. The daily special was mesquite chicken and Cameron Crowe (the owner and his wife Irish, a professional photographer) was at the grill outside preparing the half chickens for the special. I order my regular – a huge bowl of chili. This is one of the few places in Los Cabos to get good chili (the other is Shaka’s in Cerritos). The chili comes with onions, cheese and chives on top and a big serving of tortilla chips. Mike went for the daily special. The mesquite chicken came with green salad and potato salad. Michele ordered the regular roasted chicken from the menu, which was served with green salad, french fries and potato salad. As you can have a late lunch at Latitude 22, Beth chose scrambled eggs, bacon, country friend potatoes with vegetables, toast and a small ramekin of fruit. The portions are all large, the food good and very reasonably priced.

Latitude 22 often has live music, special events and Holly Heiser Hornyan often offers art classes at the restaurant. It is a great place to stop after your visit to Costco. Just watch for the No Bad Days sign as you drive toward Cabo from Costco.
