Interested in a nature-filled experience during your visit to Los Cabos? Take a few days away from the beach and the towns to stay at the Mini Mountain Resort at Rancho de la Sierra in the hills above Santa Anita, just north of the International Airport in San Jose del Cabo. This unique spot has three one-bedroom casitas with their own kitchens and bathrooms, a communal kitchen, swimming pool and nature all around you. As part of Brett and Britta Stocker’s 37-acre ranch, they have an organic kitchen farm and on your first night at Mini Mountain Resort, you will have the opportunity to experience their product with chicken tacos at their house overlooking the arroyo and the mountains of Los Cabos. Sit and relax, swim, hike the ranch and mountains or take one of Brett’s private tours to enjoy nature even more.
Brett will take you and your family (or group) to visit the Hot Springs in Santa Rita above Santiago. Soak in natural thermal hot springs surrounded by rocks and native vegetation, then take a dip in the freshwater pool to cool off. Lunch includes Carne Asada (BBQ beef) cooked on a charcoal-outside kitchen by your host Chef Brett. The trip to Santiago includes a stop at the Tropic of Cancer monument where you can purchase an artisanal ice cream made with local fruits. In Santiago, take a look at the Mission Church.
Looking for a chance to see the world-famous Arch at Land´s End, the tip of the Baja California Peninsula where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean. Brett will take you on a glass-bottomed boat to see the different rock formations, the sea lion´s basking in the sun, a variety of fish, pass by Lover´s beach, around the arch to the Pacific Ocean and to Divorce beach.
Eat lunch at the Marina in Cabo San Lucas or at Zipper´s on the corridor (Costa Azul beach) You can also choose to do some souvenir shopping, visit the Glass Factory or have a Tequila Tasting on the way back in San Jose del Cabo.
Los Cabos is much more than Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, there are many delightful small towns to visit. Brett’s pueblo tour will take you to Caduaño to visit the Old Sugar Cane Factory and Cemetery; to Miraflores to visit a rustic wood furniture Shop, see spectacular views of Boca de la Sierra (bottom of the Sierra Mountains), Church of the Virgen of Guadalupe (the Patron Saint of Mexico), a leather tannery and Cultural Center; see the Tropic of Cancer Monument with its museum, mission and artisanal ice cream made with local fruits; visit the Mission Church and Old Hunting Lodge in Santiago or Los Barriles, the home of kite surfing and eat at the Hotel Las Palmas on the beach of Sea of Cortez. Any of these pueblos will give a sense of the history and mystery of Mexico.
Or maybe, a visit to Palmilla beach with an opportunity to have a private sand sculpting lesion with Brett, who is a world champion sandcastle builder.
For many families, this has been the perfect spot for a reunion, anniversary, or other celebration – taking over the casitas and having a chef prepare their meals in the kitchen by the pool. Whatever your interests, you will definitely be introduced to nature in Mexico – surrounded by astounding views, birds of all kinds and the wonders of the desert.
