La Palapa de Sabor on Ignacio Zaragoza in Todos Santos is much more than a pet friendly restaurant. It is a place where a group of people come together to take care of the pets of Todos Santos. There program includes a whole series of activities. Once a month on Sunday, Palapa de Sabor hosts a spay and neutering clinic where residents and shelters can bring their dogs and cats and have them fixed at no cost. The participating vets give La Palapa de Sabor a deep discount on the cost and the restaurant along with a group of women plan fundraising events to cover the cost on an ongoing basis. There most recent clinic in July 2024 treated 82 dogs and cats. On Saturday afternoons between 4:00 and 6:00pm, the restaurant is turned into a dog park. People bring their dogs, and they are allowed to run free throughout the whole open area of La Palapa de Sabor. At times, the owners will bring blankets and set up picnics while they play.

From time to time, all of shelters in Todos Santos, which are overcrowded are invited to bring their dogs for an adoption event. All the pets have their shots and have been spayed or neutered. Volunteers work with the children who are there to teach them that the dogs are part of the family and how they should be treated when the go home with them.

On the Day of the Dead, which celebrates the lives of people who have passed away, La Palapa de Sabor does the same thing for pets that have passed over the rainbow bridge. People set up shrines to celebrate their pets.
