Landi has been in the restaurant business for 17 years. As a chef and host, she has done an amazing job for her customers. When the rent on her location in Las Tunas was increased significantly, she decided that it was time to find a new location. Sabores by Landi’s is located down a small driveway by the CFE building on the main street of Todos Santos (Benito Juarez). It was formerly an Argentinian restaurant that has been vacant for two years. A friend suggested that she check it out and with a little work, it turned out to be a perfect location for a new concept for Landi. She wanted a restaurant with comfortable food, where people could get together and enjoy each other’s company, the food, and the atmosphere. She has accomplished it.
The menu is simple but offers a selection of great flavors. There is a daily special meal, starting with soup or salad and a different entrée each day, accompanied by a flavored water. Three different flavors of enchiladas – stuffed corn tortillas with a choice of chicken, shrimp or vegetables – and with poblano, peanut sauce or mole. Fettuccine, Raviolo or pizza round out the menu. The personal pizza is big enough for two people to share.
I asked for a diet Coke and the Poblano enchiladas. The plate of three enchiladas was covered in an incredible poblano cream sauce. The chicken was shredded and juicy. I think that they were the best enchiladas that I had ever had. I wanted to check out the other dishes served at Sabores, and so I asked Landi if I could take a few pictures of items coming out of the kitchen. The entrée of the day was tacos. The three tacos looked delicious covered with onions and peppers. I watched to different personal pizzas – pepperoni and margherita – being made, put in the oven, and served to customers. All of the food looked very good and the prices met Landi’s desire of offering a reasonably-priced alternative to many of the restaurants in Todos Santos.
I was at Sabores by Landi’s on a Saturday night and Richard Hastings was there to entertain the customers. He was joined by Jose Lugo on percussion. Richard is an amazing guitarist and vocalist, who lives in Pescadero and performs Spanish and English songs as well as a lot of original music. He started the evening with a Santana instrumental and went on to play for two hours. His repertoire ranges from Spanish guitar, flamenco, jazz, pop, rock, folk and more. It was a great evening.
Landi is an excellent host, the food was delicious, the atmosphere very comfortable and the service great. And, Sabores by Landi’s has its own parking! Check out this new location. It will be worth it. Landi’s dream is to build another location on land that she has in Las Tunas, near where she lives.
