Recently, there have been a significant number of wine pairing dinners offered at restaurants in Los Cabos by the restaurant or by private organizations like Baja Vine Club. For example, recently Nao Cabo, a Mediterranean restaurant offered a winemaker dinner with Louis Jadot. Lua de Mar offers Mexican wine pairing dinners every Wednesday with a multi-course dinner. But by far, the most active wine pairing dinners are organized by Dawn Solomon of Baja Vine Club. Dawn Solomon offers wine pairing events at restaurants like Kauil, Misiones de Kino, Torote, Alcaravea, Cocina & Bar and La Vaca Tinta in Cabo San Lucas and Simaruba in San Jose del Cabo. Tuesday, June 13th Wine Pairing Dinner at Kauil 6:30pm (max 24, we are at 14)
Friday June 16th Wine & Sushi Luncheon at 1:45pm (minimum 8 ppl)
Monday June 19th Wine Pairing Dinner & Party at Aguasalida Rooftop
Wednesday June 21st Wine Pairing Dinner Simaruba San Jose del Cabo at 6:30pm
Tuesday June 27th Wine Pairing Dinner at Alcaravea 6:30pm (max 24ppl)
I had the opportunity to participate in the process of selecting the pairing for the Simaruba wine pairing dinner on June 21st. Here is the menu as well as some photos of the wine and food that will be offered (portion size may vary).
1st course: Two different croquettes (one cheese & one fish) paired with 2022 Auereo, a Viognier Marsanne blend
2nd Course: Tuna tartare paired with 2022 Rose Mouvedre
3rd Course: Beetroot Salad of roasted beets, arugula, goat cheese & walnut dressing paired with a 2021 Red Mouvedre
4th Course: Steak Taco with carmelized onions & arugula on blue corn paired with 2021 Syrah
