YERBA SANTA IN CABO SAN LUCAS

John Anderson, Editor

Located on the corner of Miguel Herrera and Calle Libertad is a stylish Mexican restaurant – Yerba Santa (Holy Herb). The entrance is a large arched gate leading into a big courtyard with a bar and seating at the back. The main dining room is inside a building on the property, which has murals all around the top of its high walls leading up to a tiled-palapa style roof. The murals show great scenes of Mexican life. I was having a late breakfast and grabbed an equipale chair at a table in the dining room. My server, offered me a menu in Spanish and said that the QR code in the bottom right corner led to an English menu on line. It was late enough that he also gave me the lunch and dinner menu.

The breakfast menu offered omelets, empanadas, quesadillas, chilaquiles, French toast, pancakes, fruit, eggs as you like them as well as enchiladas, tacos and several dishes were served with mole. I decided to have my standard breakfast of Huevos a la Mexicana – scrambled eggs with Pico de Gallo. The order came with slices of avocado, cheese, refried beans and flour tortillas. The tortillas meant that I had to make myself some breakfast tacos. The food was very good as was the service.

I took a look at the lunch and dinner menu, which had a full-range of Mexican dishes that appeared to have come from mainland Mexico. There was everything from starters – soup, garnishes and guacamole – and seafood to steaks, octopus and fish as well as tacos. Again, lots of dishes with mole. There was also a long list of dessert choice. I will definitely be back with my wife to enjoy a dinner.
